Munnar gets its name from the Malayalam and Tamil phrases for "Three rivers" as the town is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams,5,250 ft above sea level.
Tea factory and plantation tours
Tata Tea,which claims to be the world's largest integrated tea company,has 26 factories in Munnar and you can get permission to visit one of them from Tata Tea's Regional Office.
Hitting the spice trail Munnar is meant for walking,so do exercise your legs.
Trekking Munnar is home to South India's highest peak,Anamudi,8,842 ft above sea level,and getting there is half the fun.There are several shorter treks all around,including the famous Lockheart Gap ,13 km from Munnar,which offers a panoramic view of God's own art.
Angling Munnar has several mountain streams and brooks that contain fish like trout which would tempt any angler.

Eravikulam National Park This is the home of the Nilgiri Tahr,the rare mountain goat that is fast becoming extinct.
